Should your agency manage client hosting, or refer it?

For most web design and marketing agencies, the better choice is to let the client hold their hosting directly with Noiz and to earn commission on it through our affiliate programme. You keep building and improving the site; we run the server, answer the hosting tickets and send the invoices. Hosting your clients in your own account, through the Agency Programme, suits agencies that already act as their clients' technical contact and want to stay first in line. Either way, the client's domain stays in the client's name.

What managing hosting asks of an agency

Holding a client's hosting looks like a small extra line on a project. In practice it makes you the person the client calls whenever the site or the email misbehaves, for as long as the arrangement lasts.

An agency that manages hosting takes on:

  • First-line support. A mailbox that stops receiving on a Friday evening is your call to answer, even if the cause sits with the server.
  • Billing. You pay the host, invoice the client, and chase the client when they pay late.
  • Notices. Planned maintenance, a renewal or a change in terms has to reach every client it affects.
  • Continuity. If someone leaves your agency, the client still needs a working contact.

None of this is building websites. For a design studio or a marketing team, it is time taken from the work clients actually hire you for.

Option 1: refer the client and let Noiz host them

With the affiliate programme, you send the client your referral link. They order hosting in their own name, pay Noiz directly and get support from Noiz. You earn 10% of the Legacy or Premium hosting fee they pay, on every renewal, for as long as they keep paying for it.

How it works:

  1. Log in to the client area and open Affiliates to activate your account and copy your referral link.
  2. Share the link with the client, or put it on your website.
  3. The client orders through the link and becomes a Noiz client in their own name.
  4. Each payment earns you commission, held for 60 days so that a refund can be taken back, then available to withdraw by bank transfer or as credit on your Noiz account.

What this gives your agency:

  • No hosting support queue. Server, mail and certificate questions come to us.
  • No hosting invoices to send or chase.
  • A client who owns their account. If they move on from your agency one day, their site and mail do not need untangling from yours.
  • Room to sell what you are good at. Design, content, search optimisation and development stay with you.

If the client wants WordPress looked after as well, they can add WordPress Care to their hosting. We run the weekly updates, the restore points and the clean-up if something goes wrong, while you keep the design, the pages and the features.

Option 2: host clients in your own account with the Agency Programme

Some agencies already run their clients' IT and want to keep doing so. The Agency Programme is built for them. You host each client's site in your own Noiz account, one plan per client site, and pay Noiz at an agency rate.

How it works:

  • Noiz approves each agency individually. You ask for approval by ticket, describing your business and the client sites you host or plan to host.
  • From approval, eligible hosting carries a 5% discount. The rate rises to 10%, 15% and 20% as your monthly spend on eligible services grows.
  • The discount appears on your invoices, not at checkout.
  • Eligible services include Legacy and Premium shared hosting, Noiz Cloud servers, the Cloudflare add-on and Advanced Email Security. Domain names, WordPress Care and other management services, labour and quoted work are not discounted.

What Noiz expects in return is set out in the Agency Terms. You hold the control panel and the client area, and your clients do not log in to either. You answer a client about their site or mail within one business day, deal with a fault that stops a site or mail on the day you learn of it, pass on our notices within two business days, and never leave a client without a working contact for more than 48 hours.

Who owns the domain

In both arrangements, the client's domain name is registered to the client, never to the agency. The domain is how customers find the business and how its email arrives. A business that does not hold its own domain cannot move it, renew it or protect it without someone else's help, so we keep that ownership with the business from the start.

The two side by side

Affiliate programme Agency Programme
Whose account the hosting is in The client's Yours
Who the client pays Noiz You
Who supports the client on hosting Noiz You, with Noiz supporting you
What you earn 10% recurring commission on Legacy and Premium hosting A discount of 5% to 20% on eligible services
Approval needed No Yes, by Noiz
Domain registered to The client The client

You can do both

An approved agency can also refer clients as an affiliate. You keep the agency discount on the hosting you hold in your own account, and you earn commission on clients you refer who sign up and pay Noiz directly. That lets you keep the clients you already support, and send new ones straight to us.

What we recommend

If your agency builds and markets websites, refer the hosting and keep your time for the work. The client gets hosting from the people who run the servers, and you earn on it for as long as they stay. Choose the Agency Programme when you already are your clients' technical contact and want the panel in your hands.

Get started

Your referral link is in the client area under Affiliates. To ask for agency approval, open a ticket and tell us about your business and the clients you host.
