How to pay Noiz in Monero (XMR)

By Noiz / 19th October 2026 | 4 min

Every Noiz invoice can be paid in Monero (XMR), the privacy-focused cryptocurrency. You choose Monero as the payment method on the invoice, send the exact XMR amount it shows to the address it shows, and submit your transaction ID on the same page; Noiz then checks the payment and marks the invoice paid. All you need is a Monero wallet you control and enough XMR to cover the invoice. This guide covers each step, and what South African rules mean if you buy your XMR through an exchange.

Step 1: get a wallet you control

A Monero wallet holds the keys that let you send and receive XMR. Choose one where you hold the keys, not an account on an exchange.

The Monero project's own downloads page offers:

  • The Monero GUI Wallet, open source and free, developed by the Monero community, with a Simple mode that connects to a remote node for you.
  • The Monero CLI Wallet, for developers and advanced users.
  • Community wallets for phones and computers, such as Feather, Cake Wallet and Monerujo, which the page lists as non-custodial and not managed by the Monero core team. It advises readers to do their own research before choosing one.

Both official wallets also work with Ledger and Trezor hardware wallets. Write down your wallet's recovery phrase and keep it offline. Anyone with the phrase controls the wallet; without it, a lost phone means lost funds.

Step 2: get some XMR

There are three common routes:

  • Buy through an exchange that lists Monero, then withdraw to your own wallet.
  • Swap another cryptocurrency for XMR inside a wallet that offers swaps.
  • Receive it from someone who already holds Monero.

If you buy through a South African exchange

Since October 2022, the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) has treated crypto assets as financial products, and exchanges and other crypto asset service providers must be licensed. They are also accountable institutions under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act. Since 30 April 2025, the Financial Intelligence Centre's Directive 9, known as the travel rule, has required them to send identifying information with transfers between providers.

When you withdraw to a wallet you control yourself, which the rule calls an unhosted wallet, the Financial Intelligence Centre's guidance says the exchange should obtain information from you about who holds the receiving wallet. In practice your exchange may ask whether the wallet is yours, or who you are paying, before it releases the funds. Answer accurately. This is general information, not legal or financial advice.

Step 3: pay the invoice

  1. Sign in to the console, our client area, and open the unpaid invoice.
  2. Choose Monero (XMR) as the payment method.
  3. The invoice shows the amount in XMR and the Monero address to pay.
  4. Send the exact XMR amount shown, to the address shown. Copy and paste the address rather than typing it, so nothing is mistyped.
  5. Copy the transaction ID from your wallet once the payment is sent, and submit it in the box on the invoice.

Step 4: confirmation

Noiz checks each Monero payment and then marks the invoice paid. The Monero network adds a block about every two minutes, and newly received funds need ten confirmations before they can be spent, so a payment is never confirmed instantly. Submitting the transaction ID with the invoice is what lets us find and confirm it quickly.

What stays private, and what does not

Monero hides the sender, the receiver and the amount of each transaction on its public ledger, which is why Noiz accepts it. The Monero project itself is careful to add that there is no such thing as 100% anonymous. Two practical limits apply:

  • The exchange knows you. If you bought XMR through an exchange, it holds your identity and the withdrawal record.
  • Your invoice is in your account. Noiz knows which invoice you paid; Monero keeps the payment private from everyone else, not from the person you are paying.

Prefer to pay by card

Card payment through Stripe is the other way to pay any Noiz invoice. Our knowledgebase explains how to pay an invoice by card.
