One-click installs: what Softaculous does for you
Softaculous is an application installer built into the Plesk control panel on every Noiz shared hosting plan. It installs WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and, by its own count, more than 380 other web applications in a few clicks: it creates the database, copies the files and sets up the first administrator for you. After that it helps you look after the installation, with upgrades, backups, restores and, for some applications, clones and staging copies.
What it saves you
Installing a web application by hand means creating a database and a database user, uploading the files, editing a configuration file and running an installer. Softaculous does all of that from one form. You choose the application, the domain and folder, and the administrator details, and it does the rest.
What it does after the install
- Upgrades. Softaculous can upgrade an installation when a new version is available, and for selected applications can do it automatically.
- Backups and restores. You can back up an installation and restore it from the Backups and Restore screen. By default its backups are kept in your own hosting account, so they use your disk and sit on the same server as the site.
- Clones and staging. For some applications, Softaculous can copy an installation to test an upgrade or a change, and push a staging copy back to the live site.
Not every feature works for every application. Softaculous lists which applications support which feature.
