Manage mailboxes, forwarders and spam settings in Plesk with an AI guiding you

By Noiz / 19th October 2026 | 7 min

Mail settings are some of the most common jobs in Plesk, and some of the easiest to get slightly wrong: a forwarder that stops keeping copies, an autoresponder that answers every newsletter, a spam filter so strict that invoices disappear. An AI assistant makes a good guide for these tasks. You stay in the panel and make each change; the assistant explains each setting, catches mistakes and helps you decide. This guide gives you a prompt for each task, written to carry the right facts and to keep your passwords out of the conversation.

Before you start

  • You can log in to Plesk for the domain whose mail you manage.
  • An AI assistant you use with a business account, for example Claude or ChatGPT. Nothing in this guide connects it to your mailbox; you only describe what you see.
  • A rule for the whole session: never paste a password, and cover passwords and other people's addresses in any screenshot you share.

How every prompt here works

Each prompt tells the assistant four things: where you are (Plesk Obsidian on Noiz shared hosting), what you want, how to guide you (one step at a time, waiting for you), and what it must not do (ask for passwords, suggest anything that deletes mail without warning you, or change server settings). Paste the prompt, fill in the brackets, and answer its questions.

Create a mailbox

The full steps are in How to create an email address in Plesk.

I manage email for [yourdomain.com] in Plesk Obsidian on Noiz shared hosting.
I want to create a mailbox for [a new colleague / a shared address such as
accounts@]. Guide me through Mail > Create Email Address one step at a time
and wait for me after each step. Explain the Mailbox size setting, whether
the account should be allowed to log in to Plesk, and what the external
email address is for. Help me choose a strong password, but never ask me to
tell you the password. Then tell me which mail app settings the person will
need, without any password.

Two things to decide with the assistant: whether a shared address should be a mailbox at all (a forwarder to the people who handle it may be simpler), and whether the person needs to log in to Plesk (usually not). A mailbox cannot be made larger than your plan's default without asking us.

Set up forwarding

Forwarding sends a copy of each message to another address. The trap is the Mailbox option: clear it, and the original mailbox stops keeping its copy. See How to set up email forwarding in Plesk.

In Plesk Obsidian on Noiz shared hosting, I want mail sent to [address] to
also reach [other address or addresses]. Walk me through the Forwarding tab
step by step, waiting for me after each step. Before I save, ask me whether
the original mailbox should keep its copies, and explain what happens to
mail if I clear the Mailbox option. Warn me if forwarding to an outside
address such as a personal Gmail account could cause delivery or privacy
problems.

Forwarding business mail to a personal address puts your clients' messages with another provider. The assistant should raise this; if it does not, ask it.

Set up an autoresponder

An auto-reply answers incoming mail while you are away. See How to set up an email autoresponder in Plesk.

I want an out-of-office reply on [address] in Plesk Obsidian on Noiz
hosting, from [date] to [date]. Help me write a short, professional message
in British English that gives [a colleague's address or phone number] for
urgent matters and says nothing about my home or travel. Then guide me
through the Auto-Reply tab one step at a time: subject, plain text format,
how often the same sender gets a reply, and the date to switch it off.

Keep the limit on how often one sender is answered (once a day is the default), and always set the date to switch it off, so that it does not run for months.

Tune the spam filter

The spam filter scores each message and acts on the ones above a threshold. You choose the action: move spam to the Spam folder, mark the subject, or delete it. Moving it to the Spam folder is the safe choice, because a message caught by mistake can be found again; Plesk empties that folder after 30 days. See How to train your spam filter in Plesk.

In Plesk Obsidian on Noiz shared hosting, I want to adjust the spam filter
for [address]. Problem: [too much spam gets through / real messages from
suppliers land in spam]. Explain the options on the Spam Filter tab and
recommend one, preferring Move spam to the Spam folder over deleting.
Explain what the sensitivity number means and suggest a change of one point
only. Help me write white list entries for [supplier domains] using the
*@example.com form. Guide me one step at a time and do not suggest deleting
spam automatically.

Change the sensitivity by one point, then wait a few days before changing it again. To teach the filter, move missed spam into the Spam folder and real mail out of it in your mail app.

When mail itself is not working

If mail is not arriving or sending, the cause may be your mail app, a setting in Plesk or a DNS record. Start with Why is my email not working? An email troubleshooting guide, then use this prompt:

My email on [yourdomain.com], hosted by Noiz on Plesk Obsidian, has this
problem: [describe it, with the exact error message]. It started [when].
My mail app is [app]. The Noiz settings are server mail.yourdomain.com,
IMAP on port 993 with SSL/TLS and SMTP on port 465 with SSL/TLS. Help me find
the cause one check at a time, starting with the simplest. Do not ask for my
password. Do not suggest changing DNS records or server settings without
telling me first that I should check with Noiz support, and tell me when the
problem looks like something only Noiz can fix.

Troubleshooting

  • The assistant's steps do not match your panel. Tell it which menus you can see; Plesk layouts differ between versions. Our linked guides are written for the Noiz panel.
  • A forwarded address stopped keeping mail. The Mailbox option was cleared on the Forwarding tab. Tick it again.
  • The autoresponder answers mailing lists and notifications. That is how auto-replies work. Keep the once-a-day limit and switch it off on your return.
  • Real mail goes to Spam after a change. Lower the sensitivity by one point, add the sender to the white list, and move the messages back to the inbox.

Mail that has outgrown shared hosting

If your organisation needs mailbox sizes, sending limits or spam filtering set for it rather than inherited from a hosting plan, Private Email is a mail server for one organisation, run by Noiz. Ask us whether it fits.
